Thought for the Month As the Lenten season comes to a close with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter, let us continue to do daily sacrifice and prayer in his name.  Remember to perform a RAK every day and see the smile on their faces.

 

Medallion Award - Congratulations to our council member Harold Meyer on being selected winner of the prestigious Medallion Award  At-Large by Wisconsin State Council Knights of Columbus.  Harold's resume had the highest number of points of all entrants due to his commitment to church, community and the Knights of Columbus.

Membership/Degrees - A First Degree Exemplification was held at our February, 4th  meeting.  Congratulations and welcome to our two new members William Bartnik and Dennis Gruenke.

A Second degree will be held on Saturday, March 15th, in Fond du Lac at 10:30 AM and a Third Degree on the same day at 1:30 PM.  It is a great opportunity to take these two degrees on the same day.  Contact District Deputy Jim Guell at 920-922-7496 or DeWayne Gideon at 920-892-2389.  

If you have completed your 3rd degree, move up to full Knighthood by taking the Patriotic 4th degree.  A 4th degree exemplification is scheduled for April 12, 2008 in Oconomowoc.  Contact Faithful Navigator Richard M Tauferner or Warden, Jim Faller at 892-7699 for further information.

Election of Officers - Election of Council's Officers for the 2008-2009 fraternal year will take place soon.  If you wish to get more involved in Council activities, submit your name for a council officer position.  Please contact Election Committee Chairman Francis Kohlmann or one of our trustees, Harold Lehmann, Gerry Brunner or Harry Lipscomb.  You must be a third degree Knight to be a council officer.  Take your second and third degrees on March 15th in Fond du Lac and become an officer in Council.  To see the duties of the various officer positions go to the officer's page on our web site.

 

Fraternal – Keep in your prayers:  Gerry Brunner's two brothers-in-law, Betty Lehmann, Harry Lipscomb, Gloria Meyer, Mary Meyer, Dr. Sharon Roberts and Bernice Wieser.  Also, keep in your prayers our departed Brothers and their families.

 

Rocky Knoll - Volunteers are needed to assist in taking residents at Rocky Knoll to 10:00 AM Mass on the second Sunday of the month.  It only takes about 2 hours out of your day.  If you can help, call Harold Meyer at 892-8176.

 

Annual Men’s Retreat Our annual Men’s Retreat is scheduled for Thursday, April 3rd thru Sunday, April 6th 2008 at the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh.  Join us for a weekend of prayer and renewal directed by Father John A. Schwantes, SJ.  Call Harold Meyer at 892-8176 for further information or go to our website for a printable registration form.  A non-refundable deposit of $40 must accompany the form.

 

Catholic Heart Workcamp - Council is pleased to donate $500 to help defray the cost of our youth to take part in service and worship at Catholic Heart Workcamp in Boston this summer.  About 50 of our students participated last year.  For more information on the benefits of this worthwhile weeklong mission endeavor  go to www.heartworkcamp.com.

Youth Activity Raffle Results - First prize was won by Francis Kohlmann, second prize was won by Kaylee Schuler.  $400 in prizes were awarded with Council netting $207 for youth activities.

 Youth Activity Brat Fry - The brat fry was held on Sunday, February 10th.  Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and snow and icy conditions contributed to reduced participation resulting in only $205 net for youth activities.

Fish Fry - Council teamed with the 5th grade for the Friday Fish Fry on February, 29th.  It was a big success with 474 fish fries prepared and served.  Thanks to Bryan Smith, 5th grade teacher Julie Murphy and all council members who gave of their time.

Free Throw Contest WinnersTwo girls from the local Free Throw Competition, Elizabeth Fohr, 11 and Elizabeth Stanczyk, 13 will advance to the State finals of the free throw competition.


Holy Hill Ushers - Council has been asked to usher at all Masses at Holy Hill on Sunday, June 29th.  Eight volunteers are needed.  Please contact Francis Kohlmann
at 893-8062 if you can offer your services.
 

Dues for 2008 – Dues letters for 2008 have been sent to all members.  Please return your check to our Financial Secretary, Bill Hand as soon as possible.  Your membership is the lifeblood of the Knights, so please remit ASAP.

 

Knight Rider – Several knights are ready to pick up a brother knight to attend a meeting or other council event.  If you’re unable or hesitant to drive at night, call Jim Faller at 892-7699 or e-mail Jim at fallerjr@verizon.net for a ride.

Change of Address – If you are moving or will be temporarily away, please notify our Council’s Financial Secretary Bill Hand of your new address at 892-6303 to keep records up to date.
