FOURTH DEGREE NEWS

FROM YOUR FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR

Brother Knights & Ladies:

“I bring you good news, The Savior- yes, the Messiah; the Lord is born tonight in Bethlehem”.  As we approach this Holy Season of Advent & Christmas, please take time to reflect on the Birth of Our Savior!  I hope you have a Blessed Advent and Christmas season!

Once again this year we will have the “Keep Christ In Christmas” lawn signs available.

If you would like one please call me at (920) 918-5066 or the Grand Knight of your council.

I would like to thank Sir Knight Murlin Winter for chairing the St. Nicholas Hospital

Christmas party.  A big thank you to all Brother Knights & ladies that volunteered to help at this event.

Sir Knight Gerald Ziegler will soon be sending out the 2009 annual dues notice along with raffle tickets.  Please try to purchase or sell your raffle tickets.  If you need additional raffle tickets, please contact him.

The 4th Degree Exemplification will be held April 18th, 2009 at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.  If you know of any 3rd degree Knight that would like to be a 4th degree member please contact me as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Sir Knight Norman Halloran and his wife Ginny who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary!

Starting in January I am asking all calling chairmen to have your counts called in to Faithful Purser Pat Knier by the 2nd Tuesday of the month so he can call the totals in

to the K.C. hall by the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  We have a new chief at the K.C.

Center and he has requested this change so he can properly place his food order.  Also,

a reminder that if for some reason you can not attend the dinner after you have stated that

you will be attending, you must call the K.C. Center no later than the morning of the meeting.  If you fail to do this you will have to pay for the number of meals that you reserved.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Our next meeting will be January 21st 2009 with a Right to Life Mass which will begin at

6:00 P.M. at the Sheboygan K.C. Center.  A social hour and dinner will follow.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Blessed Christmas and a Happy & Healthy 2009!!  God Bless you!

CHAPLAINS MESSAGE

Dear Friends,

Spirituality is very much related to forgiveness,   One of the most important requirements of us, as members of the Knights of Columbus, is to forgive and be forgiven. We must first heal ourselves before we can heal others. So please let me share with you some thoughts about the healing- forgiving process. Healing of self is a very dynamic and freeing experience. It is also very personal as well as revealing.

One of the most obvious elements in healing is that it must come from the inside and proceed to the outside. The example of physical healing is so very revealing about the healing process. If a wound heals from the outside and not from the inside, then bacteria is actually given a home in which to fester and spread and destroy. The nurse or physician needs to tear away the external scab so that true healing from the inside may take place,

We have God’s goodness, beauty, and integrity within us. So if someone has hurt us and we desire to heal ourselves of this hurt we must see the other person as one who has all the qualities of goodness that we like to see in each other and that we seek in our own lives.

The will is blind, the great philosophers tell us, and the will always seeks the good. In order to move to do that which may not be good the intellect must convince the will that the evil we are going to do is good. For example, - if we go to the store and desire to purchase something that is beyond our means, or unnecessary for our use or enjoyment we need to convince the will that indeed it is a good thing to make the purchase. This tussle of intellect with the will is a major factor in the forgiving and healing process.

This process leads to forgiveness and healing. We can not forgive too readily or it will be from the outside and not therefore be healing at all. We need to do something that changes our will’s conviction born of our intellect‘s false reasoning. We need to convince the will by positive thoughts that it is essential for us to be healed by forgiving and understanding and reaching out. Whether the other person accepts our forgiveness is not as important as our honest and genuine desire to forgive. We must have reasons for forgiving that are filled with integrity and love – then we will be free and the other person may sense this in us.

During these holy days it is good for us to remember that Jesus is the one who forgives us and is generous in his willingness to do so. He loves us and all he asks in return is that we forgive one another.

May these precious Emmanuel days be a source of joy and happiness,

Fr. Mike
