FOURTH DEGREE NEWS

FROM YOUR FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR

Sir Knights and Ladies:

Happy Mothers Day!  Once a year, we set aside a day to honor our Mothers.

Remember to honor our Blessed Mother Mary, and pray to her daily.  The

Month of May is dedicated to Mary.  Please pray the Rosary often.  Did you know that

Council 722 sponsors the Rosary which is aired on the Sheboygan cable, channel 8?

The Rosary is broadcast Monday – Saturday at 8:30 A.M.

At our next meeting election of officers will take place.  I am in need of a trustee for

a three year term, beginning with the 2008 – 2009 year.  If you are interested in filling this position, please give me a call at (920) 918-5066.  The list of officers for the 2008 – 2009 term is listed in this issue of The Knight Letter.   The year has gone by fast and

my first year of Faithful Navigator is almost complete.  I would like to thank all my officers and members for their support.

It is not too early to plan for the St. Nicholas Hospital picnic.  This year the picnic will be

held on July 30th.  A big thank you to Charlie Gruenke & John Sprosty for chairing this event.  Please make sure to sign up at our next meeting or give them a call to volunteer your help.  This takes many hours of manpower to make this event a success.

In June our annual Memorial Mass will be held.  More details will be in the next Knight Letter.

Our next meeting is May 21st at Millhome Supper Club in Kiel.  Cocktails will be at 6:00 and dinner at 7:00.  The menu will be Broasted Chicken and Roast Beef served family style.

God Bless You!

Your Faithful Navigator,

Richard M. Tauferner

CHAPLAINS MESSAGE

Dear Fellow KC Members,

I have selected the following quotations from the many messages of Our Holy Father during his glorious and inspiring visit to the United States. I think these words are especially meaningful to us as member of the Knights of Columbus.

----The word of God reminds us that in faith we see the heavens opened, and the grace of the Holy Spirit lighting up the Church and bringing sure hope to our world. "O Lord, my God," the Psalmist sings, "when you send forth your spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth" (Ps 104:30).

----These words from scripture evoke the first creation, when the Spirit of God hovered over the deep; and they look forward to the new creation, at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and established the Church as the first fruits of a redeemed humanity.

----These words summon us to ever deeper faith in God’s infinite power to transform every human situation, to create life from death, and to light up even the darkest night. And they make us think of another magnificent phrase of Saint Irenaeus: "where the Church is, there is the Spirit of God; where the Spirit of God is, there is the Church and all grace”.

----One of the great disappointments which followed the Second Vatican Council, with its call for a greater engagement in the Church’s mission to the world, has been the experience of division between different groups, different generations, different members of the same religious family. We can only move forward if we turn our gaze together to Christ!

----In the light of faith, we will then discover the wisdom and strength needed to open ourselves to points of view which may not necessarily conform to our own ideas or assumptions. Thus we can value the perspectives of others, be they younger or older than ourselves, and ultimately hear "what the Spirit is saying" to us and to the Church.

----We need but think of the remarkable accomplishment of that exemplary American priest, the Venerable Michael McGivney, whose vision and zeal led to the establishment of the Knights of Columbus, or of the legacy of the generations of religious and priests who quietly devoted their lives to serving the People of God in countless schools, hospitals, and parishes.

----By your personal witness, and your fidelity to the ministry or apostolate entrusted to you, you prepare a path for the Spirit. For the Spirit never ceases to pour out his abundant gifts, to awaken new vocations and missions, and to guide the Church.

May these great thoughts inspire us as we continue to embrace the graces of Pentecost.

Fr. Mike
